Matthew McLinn | Founder, Mount Helicon Productions
Matthew McLinn is the founder of Mount Helicon Productions, an independent film production company focused on character-driven genre films. His work centers on stories drawn from myth, folklore, and the tensions that shape human behavior.

Based in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, McLinn launched Mount Helicon Productions to develop and produce films with a disciplined approach to both storytelling and production. While the company’s first projects are rooted in Texas, its slate expands to stories set across the United States and beyond.

From Finance to Filmmaking
Before founding Mount Helicon Productions, McLinn built a career in corporate finance, where he specialized in strategic planning, forecasting, and operational analysis. That background continues to inform his approach to film production today.

Independent filmmaking requires both creative vision and practical discipline. McLinn approaches development with a focus on structure, realistic production planning, and long-term slate growth. His goal is to create films that balance strong storytelling with thoughtful execution.

The Vision Behind Mount Helicon Productions
Mount Helicon Productions was created as a platform for developing genre stories that combine mythic ideas with grounded human conflicts.

The company’s slate spans horror, fantasy, and speculative narratives that explore themes such as transformation, identity, and the unseen forces that shape our lives. Each project is developed with attention to tone, audience, and production scale, allowing the company to grow its slate in a sustainable way.

Rather than focusing on one-off projects, Mount Helicon Productions is building a portfolio of films designed to evolve over time.

Looking Forward
McLinn is currently developing several feature films through Mount Helicon Productions, including projects inspired by regional folklore, mythic traditions, and contemporary themes.

As development progresses, the company aims to collaborate with filmmakers, actors, investors, and creative partners who share an interest in thoughtful genre storytelling.
